In 2017, the Infrastructure department of Aclagro, commissioned by the Agency for Roads and Traffic, Aquafin, and the city of Waregem, embarked on the redevelopment of Westerlaan and Noorderlaan in Waregem.

The route stretches from Gaverbeek to the intersection with Stationstraat and continues to the intersection with Jozef Duthoystraat. The project was carried out in 6 different phases to minimize disruption and ensure accessibility to residences, schools, businesses, and the train station. Five schools are located in the vicinity of the worksite.

The road redevelopment also required the provision of necessary parking lanes and squares, aiming to create a boulevard effect.

A separated sewage system was installed, including 6 overflow structures and 3 crate fields. These crate fields slow down and buffer rainwater flowing into the Gaverbeek. An outflow structure was implemented near the Gaverbeek, involving a substantial sewer renovation.

The project included the following installations:

  • 6,000 m² of pavers for sidewalks
  • 6,000 m² of pavers for squares
  • 2,500 m² of pavers for parking lanes
  • 5,000 m² of concrete pavement (partially reinforced)
  • 10,000 m² of asphalt pavement
  • 4 km of sewage pipelines
